League of Legends Lecture
When learning chess or another complicated game, it’s important to start with the fundamentals. This includes understanding how the pieces move, the basic rules of the game, and what each champion does.
League of Legends has a massive player base, giving developer Riot Games plenty of room to test. They’ve been conducting subtle experiments to better understand their player base.
Basics of the Game
League of Legends is a multiplayer video game pitting two teams of five players against each other. Each team controls a champion with unique abilities and different styles of play. Players earn experience, gold, and items to make their champion more powerful, which helps them defeat the opposing champions and destroy the enemy base.
Each match starts with each team occupying a small region of the map known as Summoner’s Rift. The two teams then battle to destroy the enemy’s Nexus – the building at the center of their base. This is accomplished by bypassing a series of defensive structures called towers, and fighting computer-controlled minions that constantly spawn in waves.
League of Legends is a very complex game. New players often find themselves overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information, especially when it comes to the item economy. This chapter covers a few key concepts that all players should be familiar with to help them get started.
Gold Economy
Besides understanding how to build a strong champion, the other primary objectives of League revolve around managing your gold economy. Gold is an important resource for purchasing items and leveling them up to maximize power, and knowing how to manage your gold efficiently is a vital part of being successful in the game.
In a lot of ways, gold might seem like just this number that keeps ticking up in the bottom right corner of your screen, but it actually serves as the backbone of the game. Understanding how to gain and spend gold effectively can help you get ahead in the game, and while it might not win you the game outright, it will give you the best chance of doing so. Gold efficiency is a measure of how much more value an item’s stats provide than its actual price, and this will be the primary focus of our discussion on gold economics.
Early Game Decisions
League of Legends is a team oriented video game that pits two teams of five players against each other in a sequence of events that lead to one team destroying the enemy’s base and winning the game. During a match, players control a character called a champion, with each champion having distinct abilities and playstyles.
There are many decisions that can be made early in the game that can impact the outcome of the game. Some of these decisions include champion selection, winning lane, roaming, and itemization.
During the laning phase, early game decisions involve denying your opponent farm and experience through consistent harass or sieging enemy turrets. The late game involves obtaining full builds and pushing for objectives like Baron and Dragon, as well as denying vision through team fights. Itemization is also a major aspect of the game, and understanding how to work the shop efficiently and effectively based on enemy matchup is a critical part of mastery in the game.
Secondary Objectives
Ultimately, a win on Summoner’s Rift is about more than just high KDAs and flashy moves. Secondary objectives are often crucial steps toward achieving primary ones, and can be deciding factors in closely-matched games. These can include items like Scryer’s Blooms, which release vision-granting pollen over a large cone, or Honeyfruits, which heal champions and other units.
The goal is to make these secondary objectives clear, and ensure that the most important things (like a major ultimate or CC) draw the most attention. It also means always preserving hierarchy, both within a champion’s kit and between champions and gameplay elements. This is something that carries over into life, too: every hero has strengths, and you should play to those strengths.롤대리
